Global shutter
Also: GS
Definition
An image sensor that exposes every pixel at the same instant, so fast motion does not bend or shear the image.
A global-shutter sensor starts and ends exposure for all pixels simultaneously, then reads them out. Robot tracking cameras use global shutter because visual odometry and triangulation assume each frame is a single instant. Common parts include OV9281/OV9282 (mono, 1280×800) and AR0234 (colour, 1920×1200). See global-shutter sensors for robotics.
