Definition
A serial camera link carrying video, control, power and trigger over one coaxial cable up to about 15 m.
GMSL2 carries about 6 Gbps forward, GMSL3 about 12 Gbps. A serializer (e.g. MAX96717) sits behind the camera; a deserializer (e.g. MAX9296 for two links, MAX96712 for four) sits at the computer. Standard in automotive and increasingly in robotics. See choosing the camera link.
